ABOUT THE JOB
UBC is now hiring a hardworking, collegial, Assistant Estimator/ Purchasing Manager with experience in multi-family construction. You will be responsible for working with Executive Vice President of Construction (VP) on estimating, preconstruction activities and purchasing (buy of projects) for construction projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Assistant Estimator / Purchasing Manager include:
Estimating/Pre-Construction
Transmit Bid Requests to Trade Contractors and Track Responses
Work on Bid Coverage
Work on specialty Bid Items during Bid Phase
Distribute Bid Plans and Specifications
Accumulate Bids and Transmit Bid Day Reminders
Processes Bid RFls, Track Responses and Update Logs
Transmits Bid RFI Responses to Trade Contractors
Track Consultant Proposal Requests
Assists VP in Qualifying Subcontractor Bids
Completes plan takeoffs to assist inqualifying bids
Works with Vice President of Construction on Preconstruction Projects
Purchasing/ Cost Control
Work with VP and Project Manager's on Buy Out of Projects
Work with VP to write LOl's andContract Scopes
Assist Project Manager on Trade Contractor Change Order Requests
Reviews updated Plan Addendums with PM's and tracks cost impacts
Tract Trade Contractor Proposal / Change Order Requests
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience in Construction Estimating
Experience in Construction Purchasing
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with others in a professional and objectivemanner, in both oral and written form.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints and other construction drawings.
Must be able to effectively communicatewith management, staff, co-workers, owners, vendors, and/or subcontractors to provide accurate and appropriatefeedback in a timely manner; and occasionally to community leaders to provide safety and/or project information.
Must be highly organized.
Must possess effective and active listening abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Engineering or Architecture.(Preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years of construction estimating
Minimum 5 years of and purchasing
Minimum 3 years of Experience in Multi-Family Construction
